MUSIC AND ART. SONOROUS CORRESPONDENCES 2015 II

22 September - 15 December

MUSIC AND ART. SONOROUS CORRESPONDENCES 2015 II

September marks the beginning of the second part of the 2015 concert series Music and Art: Sonorous Correspondences, an encounter between the music and art of our times, whose purpose is to present the latest trends in music and performance as well as the most important composers on the new music scene. With this idea in mind, Vertixe Sonora has asked the latest generation of composers to write works specifically created based on the exhibitions being shown at the CGAC.

This three-month series will include the presentation of nine exclusive premiere works organised into two concerts. Four of these—the ones by composers Desmond Clarke (United Kingdom, 1989), Malte Giesen (Germany, 1988), Nicolas Tzortzis (Greece, 1978) and Xoán Xil (Spain, 1972)—, revolve around the exhibition Reflections, which will be displayed at the CGAC until October 11: ‘a reflection understood as an act of meditation or an optical effect that may, at times, alter reality.’

Like ‘sound constellations,’ the five new pieces by composers Ralph Bernarby (Germany, 1988), Ezequiel Menalled (Argentina, 1980), Camilo A. Méndez (Colombia, 1982), Daniel Moreira (Brazil, 1984) and Edgar Barroso (Mexico, 1977) will give shape to Intangible Constellatio, the retrospective show of the Guatemalan photographer Luis González Palma, which will be showing at the CGAC from November 13 to March 13 ‘in a complex, mysterious universe where vision as an unsolvable enigma becomes an endless source of research.’
