ARTIST WORKSHOP WITH LUIS GONZÁLEZ PALMA. PHOTOGRAPHY AS AN EXTENSION OF THOUGHT

28-29 November 2015

ARTIST WORKSHOP WITH LUIS GONZÁLEZ PALMA. PHOTOGRAPHY AS AN EXTENSION OF THOUGHT

There is a need to explore every creative act on a symbolic level; this workshop offers a reflection on the mental and emotional processes that take place when images are built.

Through a dialogue, the workshop seeks for participants to understand that there are subtle decisions that affect and modify the meaning of their work. Because every creative act is extremely complex, different approaches are required to discover the reasons behind the decisions we make during the creative process. Therefore, we will delve into the meaning of our aesthetic ideas, their conceptual intentions, and the strong feelings that boost the creative act.

This encounter invites participants to think about the reasons why we create one type of image and not another, to become familiar with the references that guide us, to become aware that there is a profound reason (usually unknown) behind all the decisions we make, and that they are entirely related to the way we perceive our life, our past and our relationship with the world.

What we are and feel unquestionably influences the development of our ideas. By becoming aware of this we will be able to operate with greater freedom and flexibility.

The aims of the workshop are the following: to verbalise our desire to develop our awareness of what we are really searching for in our creative activity and to be able to discover what our images hide. To generate a dialogue through honesty and intimacy to be able to understand the paths and the reasons which have led us to want to represent the world with images. And last but not least, to stimulate our visual and emotional intelligence to encourage new readings of our own work and of the work of others, expanding our perception and increasing our sensibility.
