4-28 July 2017

For yet another year, the CGAC presents its offer of workshops for leisure time that will take place during July. It is an offer full of activities for participants all ages with the purpose of arousing their curiosity and interest in the immediate surroundings and of unleashing their creative energy.

This year we will focus specifically on creation processes using audiovisuals, working with tablets, video cameras and pre-recorded film material. Meanwhile, the little ones can experiment with materials, shapes, volumes, movement, and colours.

Calder in the Aquarium
Art and Assembly Worshop A

Directed by: Montse Rego, artist
From 4 to 7 July 2017
Hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Ages: 4 to 6
Seats: 15

Drawing inspiration from the exhibition Bathers. Found Photography, 1880-1963, we will draw forms in the air with wire to shape animals, plants and marine elements. Using our hands and some small tools, we will shape figures in the space delimited by metal; in a way similar to how a drawing takes shape on paper thanks to the magic of a pencil.

We will also create volume from flat shapes through techniques such as assembling, seriation, etc. Using coloured and cut cardboard pieces, with geometric shapes, kids will be able to design and build different structures.

The New Life of Images: Found Footage
Audiovisual Creation Workshop

Directed by: Javier Trigales, scriptwriter and cultural manager.
From 11 to 14 July 2017
Hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ages: adults
Seats: 20

In this workshop we will analyse the past and present of the recycling of images and we will build our own found footage piece. During the four days that the workshop lasts, we will identify the tools used by the directors of this film subgenre and we will assess the importance and significance of the works analysed. We will attempt to better understand a key part of experimental cinema and the evolution it has undergone throughout these years, while we encourage creativity and the artistic skills of the participants so they can look for a voice of their own within the language of audiovisuals.

Animate ITablet
Animation Workshop

Directed by: Alberto Vázquez and Carina Moreira, artists and educators
From 18 to 21 July 2017
Hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ages: from 7 to 9
Seats: 15

We all enjoy using a tablet, especially young people but, can we also do it in a creative way? In this workshop we are going to explore and develop creativity through animation by creating small pieces/short films.

In Animate iTablet we will give life to objects and characters, developing abilities with the aid of technology. Working collaboratively, we will give voices, music and we will edit a story to create our little big animation.

The Power of Error (In front of and Behind the Camera)
Videocreation Workshop

Directed by: Alejandra Pombo, artist.
From 26 to 28 July
Hours: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Ages: from 10 to 12
Seats: 15

In this workshop directed by the artist Alejandra Pombo we will produce a film consisting of directors that don't direct and actors that don't act.

We will understand errors not as faults but as an opportunity to see beyond that which is imagined. With this aim in mind, a filming situation will be created where the participants will interact with the public space going through different corners of the museum. We will look for and encourage encounters with errors, with chance and with the unexpected. We will use serendipity as a work method and we will use limitations as a starter for the creation of a collective video work.

REGISTRATION: All the workshops are free of charge. Registration applications can be submitted as of 13 June to the email address Applications must include the following data: full name and age of the participant or participants, telephone number, email address and name of the workshop you are applying for. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All applications failing to meet age requirement will be automatically rejected.

A maximum of two participants may be registered through each application. Each applicant will receive a confirmation email which will inform them of the status of the application.
