2 - 20 July 2018

Summer is coming and it’s time for our workshops on leisure activities. In this edition, the museum has a programme of workshops aimed at people of all ages.

We will cover fields such as sculpture, architecture, action and video creation in various workshops, run by professionals from areas such as the theatre, visual arts, art education and performance. With them we will try to learn, experiment and create with the multiple platforms, languages, techniques and concepts of cutting-edge art.

In order to carry out the activities we will take advantage of Álvaro Siza‘s architectural projects and our surroundings, such as the roof of the building, the gardens of the Bonaval Park and the streets of Compostela.

Audiovisual workshop. Green is video

From 2 to 4 July

Run by Alberto Vázquez and Carina Moreira (teachers and artists), Espacio Rojo Association

For children aged between 10 and 12

Timetable: from 11:00 to 13:30

Places: 15

“The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express”, Francis Bacon.

Green is video aims to provide children who participate in the workshop with a basic knowledge of audiovisual creation and the concept of (self) portrait. In this workshop in progress we will address these issues using the body as the landscape and metaphor, as the creation of oneself and the other. We will work on themes such as the notion of time and its manipulation, the representation of reality and optical illusions using video.

Sculpture workshop. Watch your balance!!!

5 and 6 July

Run by Mirari Urruzola (actor, teacher)

For children aged between 4 and 6

Timetable: from 11:00 to 12:30

Places: 15

Our starting point will be the work of artists of our time, such as Antony Gormley and Lygia Clark, and then we will approach three-dimensional art from different perspectives, and we will work on basic concepts, such as volume and balance.

Our own bodies will be used to practise and sketch and we will then model the material. We will study the human figure both individually and when it becomes part of a group or crowd. We will pay attention to the different parts of the body and thoughts, identity, desires... To assembly the project we will use several match boxes, converted into modules to build pieces with volume, hollows, colours and various shapes.

Urban workshops. Up in the clouds

From 10 to 13 July

Run by Lara Torres (teacher, artist)

Timetables: de 11:00 a 13:00

For children aged from 7 to 9

Places: 15

The starting point of this workshop will be In construction, an exhibit in the CGAC in which we reflect on art and architecture throughout the 20th century. We will look at and talk about the works of thirteen artists who create around our relationship with space, the natural environment and the house.

Those who participate in this activity can build any world they want. A city in a strange environment, without pillars, without benchmarks, without pasts. A neighbourhood in which people can live and coexist. They will be houses and hanging places—a world in the air, a fantasy in the sky.

Action workshop. Do it twice

From 16 to 20 July

Run by Fermín Jiménez Landa (artist)

From Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 14:30

Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 14:30 and from 16:00 to 19:30

For artists, students of fine arts, students and professionals of the performing arts, anthropology, sociology or anyone interested in the suggested topic.

Places: 15

A workshop in which the participants will have the opportunity to remake mythical works of action from the history of contemporary art through the streets of Compostela. We will set up a collective artistic hands-on workshop. We will give a second life to various actions that revolve around reflections on daily life, rites, all that is temporal, procedural, absent, present, around the conventions and limits in public space or coexistence in the cities.

REGISTRATION: All the workshops are free.
