INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2020. ‘MUSEUMS FOR EQUALITY: DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ’

18 - 24 May 2020

INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2020. ‘MUSEUMS FOR EQUALITY: DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ’

International Museum Day will be celebrated on 18th May. This year’s theme, proposed by ICOM (International Council of Museums) is ‘Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion.’

In line with its commitment to offering accessibility to modern culture and art to everyone, CGAC will be running educational artistic programmes involving the interdisciplinary nature of the arts as a tool for inclusion and with the museum as a learning space. Consequently, we are contributing to the creation of inclusive learning spaces in which everyone can share their knowledge, experiences and diverse perspectives.

Given the current situation with the pandemic, IMD 2020 will be digitalised through organised online activities. Face-to-face activities will take place in November, coinciding with Museums Night and ICOM’s 74th anniversary.

EXPRESSIVE BODY - ARTICULATE BODY WORKSHOP

20th May. Online. Full

The Expressive Body - Articulate Body workshop is part of the Diverse Classroom project, a programme run by Adriana Pazos Ottón which aims to integrate functionally-diverse people.

We will work with body language and gestures and look at physical expressions that we use daily, unconsciously, in order to choreograph the experience.

The key aspects of this workshop are physical awakening, improvisation, and the exploration of the expressive potential of the space surrounding us and of audio-visual media.

We will look at performance as a live and experimental art. We will create sounds using everyday materials and will make use of moving images. The articulate body will be understood as expressive matter and an emotional vehicle.
