In this seminar, Salvador Cidrás and Vicente Blanco will discuss their work as promoters of the group Escola Imaxinada (Imagined School), an independent, non-profit group made up of professionals in the fields of the arts, architecture, philosophy and nursery and primary education, whose objectives are: to provide schools with arts-based methodologies and to contribute to the design of quality educational spaces and resources for the classroom.

The seminar is divided into two parts. The first will present its work philosophy based on three aspects: creative processes, stereotypes and aesthetic education. The second part will provide workshop proposals carried out with nursery and primary school children. These proposals share a series of characteristics: they focus on the idea of process—that is, they promote open ways of doing things, which do not seek a single result—, they favour the creation of an imaginary and personal style that deviates from stereotyped and conventional responses, and they experiment with different artistic languages, materials and techniques.

Given by:

Vicente Blanco (Cee, Corunna, 1974) and Salvador Cidrás (Vigo, Pontevedra, 1968)

They are visual artists and lecturers in the area of Visual Expression at the University of Santiago de Compostela in the Teacher Training Faculty in Lugo.

Graduates in Fine Arts from the University of Vigo and Doctors (in Fine Arts from the University of Granada and in Humanities from the USC, respectively), they develop their artistic research in different media such as video, drawing, sculpture and installation. Their work has been exhibited individually in museums such as the Reina Sofía, the CGAC and the MUSAC.

They are promoters of the educational innovation group Escola Imaxinada, which offers its proposals in the blog escolaimaxinada.com.

They are also authors of the book Educar a través da arte: cara a unha escola imaxinada (Kalandraka, 2020), in collaboration with Rocío Modia. In 2020 they received the Marta Mata Pedagogy Prize, awarded by the Associació de Mestres Rosa Sensat, for their work Debuxar o mundo, xogar, crear, compartir, which will be published soon.
