This workshop provides an introduction to risograph printing and serves as a basis for learning and handling a risograph machine. This printing process is based on transferring ink using a stencil like a mimograph. Unlike other techniques such as offset printing, there is no wasted ink, fixatives, or disposable aluminium plates. Furthermore, its energy consumption is minimal since it is based on a cold printing process.

This technique offers the added value of being able to produce interdisciplinary publications and small print runs. Hence, the aim of the workshop is precisely to print a publication, consisting of a few copies, in which all of the workshop’s participants will have contributed.

One of the workshop’s other key themes is the revival of traditional or obsolete techniques, acting as an avenue for dialogue between manual, mechanical and digital methods. The advantages of a low-consumption, environmentally-friendly, reprographic process will be studied, which essentially uses ecological inks and recycled paper.

Finally, the risograph makes it possible to highlight the notion of ‘error’ in the copy, which in this way can be considered an original.
