El Documental del Mes is an initiative run by Parallel 40 and was born as a CinemaNet Europe’s project in 2004. Its main aim is to make documentary films available to a wider audience while at the same time increasing the presence of European documentaries on film screens, regardless of their quality, subject matter or country of origin. The programme consists in the simultaneous screening of the same documentary film in around 45 Spanish cities and, since 2009, in Chile and Argentina as well.

All screenings will begin at 8:30 p.m. Entrance is free until filled to capacity.

Synopsis: Bikes vs Cars depicts a global crisis that we all deep down know we need to talkabout: climate, earth's resources, cities where the entire surface is consumed by thecar. An ever-growing, dirty, noisy traffic chaos. The bike is a great tool for change, butthe powerful interests who gain from the private car invest billions each year onlobbying and advertising to protect their business. In the film we meet activists andthinkers who are fighting for better cities, who refuse to stop riding despite theincreasing number killed in traffic.

Director: Fredrik Gertten, the director of Bikes vs Cars is a Swedish award winning director andjournalist. His latest works Big Boys Gone Bananas!* (2012) and Bananas!* (2009) havemet an audience in over 80 countries including leading festivals as Sundance, Berlinale,Hot Docs, Toronto, IDFA, Amsterdam, Melbourne IFF, Sao Paulo IFF, Sheffield. Synopsis: Mark Landis has been called one of the most prolific art forgersin US history. His impressive body of work spans thirty years,covering a wide range of painting styles and periods thatincludes 15th Century Icons, Picasso, and even Walt Disney. Andwhile the copies could fetch impressive sums on the open market, Landis isn't in it for money. Posing as a philanthropic donor, agrieving executor of a family member’s will, and most recently asa Jesuit priest, Landis has given away hundreds of works over theyears to a staggering list of institutions across the UnitedStates. But after duping Matthew Leininger, a tenaciousregistrar who ultimately discovers the decades-long ruse and setsout to expose his philanthropic escapades to the art world,Landis must confront his own legacy and a chorus of museumprofessionals clamoring for him to stop. However, stopping isn’t as simple as it might appear. Landis, itturns out, struggles with mental illness and over the years he’sdeveloped an outright “addiction to philanthropy” as hiselaborate cons offer him the chance to cultivate connection andrespect. Directors: Sam Cullman is a cinematographer, producer and director ofdocumentaries with well over a decade of experience. He partneredwith director Marshall Curry to co-direct, shoot and produce If a Tree Falls (2011) which won the U.S. Documentary Editing Award atthe 2011 Sundance Film Festival and later received an AcademyAward® nomination for Best Documentary Feature.


Jennifer Grausman directed and produced the Emmy-nominated feature documentary, Pressure Cooker (2008). The film garnered awards from festivals across the country including a Special Jury Commendation at the 2008 Los Angeles Film Festival and Best Documentary at the 2009 Philadelphia Film Festival. In addition to making films, she was the Manager of Exhibition and Film Funding at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

Synopsis: Enea is a 29 year old man with the usual needs of a man his age. What is not so common is his way of expressing those needs. Enena is autistic and he announces his sexual desire with neon lights, often misinterpreting the reactions of the girls he approaches on the street. He needs to learn that the woman that will say yes will probably not be the woman of his dreams. As he’s never experienced sex before, his best friends Carlo and Alex decide to help him and they set out on a journey throughout Europe where they will find far more than what they were looking for.

Director: Carlo Zoratti graduated in interaction design at the Turin University before moving to Benetton’s research center on communication. He worked there for two years before becoming a freelance filmmaker and director. He directed several music videos, short movies, the live show of the Italian Pop Star Jovanotti and funded the Italian web-tv Pronti Al Peggio. His experience varies from fiction to documentary.

Synopsis: What goes through the mind of a young man who decides to fulfill his dream whatever the cost may be? Where lies the border between self-fulfillment and staying loyal to your family?We join the amazing story of Or, a 22 year old boy who, lying to his parents, decides to push forward at any price. Will he be able to face the difficult consequences of making his dream come true?

Director: A native of Tel Aviv, Shirly studied film at the Beit Berl Arts College in Israel where she directed and produced her first short film Blocked. Her first feature documentary 100% was screened at the Docaviv- Documentary Film Festival, Haifa Cinematheque. In 2009 she released The Way Up which won the Best Documentary prize at numerous international festivals was nominated for a 2010 Israeli Academy award. Shirly is presently working as an editor and director of independent projects, as well as a tutor and facilitator of media and film youth groups and seminars.

After the projection we will count on the presence of Chrysally Galicia (Asociation for families with transexual minors), Sexus (Asociation for the spreading and promotion of sexology) and Ultreia (LGTBI Asociation of Compostela).
