CGAC's Collection

The CGAC's permanent collection was established in 1995 and since then it has been steadily enhanced by the addition of works from the Galician and international context, with a special focus on Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American artists.

Its collections have increased as a result of a coherent procurement policy, based on quality and diversity criteria, and it currently has more than 1,300 pieces acquired through the institution’s annual budgets or via donations from private collectors, institutions or artists.

The collection primarily consists of works by artists who have consolidated their careers from the second half of the twentieth century and some of its iconic works were designed specifically for the CGAC’s spaces.

The center also houses funds from other collections of the Xunta de Galicia and the Polygraphic Collection, and the deposit of the Carlos Areán Collection and the Zumel Collection.

The high number of loans requested by other institutions is undoubtedly the best indicator of the quality and relevance achieved by the procurement and deposits policy developed to date by successive management teams at the Centre.
