Call for papers

This is an open call to artists, theorists and students wishing to present in public their research on action arts from an open position offering multiple perspectives.

Articles must be original and not published, not submitted or under review elsewhere. The Scientific Committee will not accept those communications which do not meet the published criteria.

All those wishing to participate in the conference should put forward an innovative reflection in the theoretical-critical investigation of action arts language and advance hypotheses that help us predict their future.

Proposals for selected Communications should Address one of these thematic ases which structure the conference:

1. Theoretical reflection about performance art. Where the aim is to contrast the different theoretical perspectives on the performance art in order to give them visibility and to build a theoretical textual framework.
2. Performance and its intersections. Where the aim is to investigate the hybrid nature of performance art and how this practice has evolved and incorporated strategies of contemporary theater, video-art, dance, etc.
3. Possible interactions between performance art and political context. Where the aim is to research in which way performance art, from very different approaches and positions, can go beyond the limits of established/dominant power and thus generate an aesthetic discourse beyond antagonisms. Among other approaches, the nature of performance art from a gender perspective and women's and/or queer studies would be included in this section.

The conference has a blind peer review.
