INSULTARTE II WORKSHOP

The CGAC presents the second edition of the Insultarte Workshop (Insult+art/Insult+you) directed by the artists Vanesa Castro, Iñaki López and Juan Lesta. A comprehensive program of activities targeting students and workers from the world of culture and creation to provide them with guidelines on labor, fiscal and management issues.
The program is structured into to three sections, consisting of a workshop and two conferences. The conferences offer a dynamic, state-of-the-art focus that will provide participants with the tools and keys needed to identify and take advantage of the employment opportunities in their sector; to understand the legal framework of their work and to seek funding for their projects.



Workshop 015
Thursday, 7 and Friday, 8 May
SCHEDULE: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm.
PLACES: minimum 10/ maximum 20
REGISTRATION: Free

This workshop will advise participants how to develop their projects. On the basis of real cases, the instructors will provide the guidelines and keys for participants to design their projects from a legal perspective, including budgeting techniques, and ways to protect their work from theft and plagiarism. They will also learn how to increase their chances of success with their projects, get them funded and make sure they are well-defined.
Workshop participants should bring a project or work proposal.


Viewings 015
Thursday, 7 May
SCHEDULE: 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
PLACES: Entrance is free until seating capacity is reached.

This section will focus on important aspects of the cultural and artistic field with a viewing of fragments of films and documentaries dealing with the following:

• The myth and the image of the artist/creator
• Intellectual property and copyrights
• Types of licenses and management agencies
• Creations on the Internet and social networks


Data 015
Friday, 8 May
SCHEDULE: 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
PLACES: Entrance is free until seating capacity is reached.

This section will present a series of data so that participants can develop their own criteria on the current situation of the cultural sector in Spain. This section also includes an analysis of the data gathered from the Insultarte Survey 2015 and from other studies.

There will also be a review of the bad practices of the sector and the resulting precarious situation of this means of communication.


Juan Lesta is a director, producer, editor and creative artist. His activity focusses on video-creation, videoclips, multimedia art and video installations. He has received a number of different awards and honorable mentions on the national and international scene. Under the name DSK, he has been working on several audiovisual and artistic projects such as codeco.org, iconoscopio.net and peninsulaxy.net. As a founding partner of the Coruña-based production Company, Esferobite, he is working on several audiovisual projects aimed at promoting communication for companies and cultural management. Since 2002 he has been teaching audiovisual classes at different schools of design in Barcelona and has given training workshops at various art and cultural centres all over Spain.

Iñaki López / Vanesa Castro are multimedia artists holding degrees in Fine Arts and are dedicated to audiovisual and performance art. They have been working together since 2003. The two have a wealth of experience as producers and cultural agitators at international festivals and artistic residency programs.
They also exhibit their respective works, teach training workshops and offer educational programs on modern audiovisual art. They have been awarded a number of prizes and have collaborated with several associations and spaces for the promotion and production of cultural activities in Spain and Portugal. TARGET AUDIENCE
: Students and professionals from the world of culture and artistic creation and anyone interested in the issues to be addressed at the workshop.

It is not necessary to register for the Sections Viewings 015 and Data 015. Entrance is free until seating capacity is reached.
The CGAC will issue a certificate of attendance and competency to workshop participants.
