GRACE SCHWINDT. STRINGS

Venue: project space
Timetable: 6.00 p.m.
Performers: Grace Schwindt and Macarena Montesinos
Duration: 40 min
Strings is a piece with which Grace Schwindt analyses the role of the figure of the mouras—beings from Galician mythology similar to mermaids—in the construction of the female gender. The performative space will be filled by a large harp constructed from six giant strings stretched across the performance space (10 to 15 metres long). Wearing costumes specially designed for the occasion, two interpreters – the cellist and performer Macarena Montesinos and the artist herself – will use strings, their voices and bodies, and a puppet to perform a musical composition. The work, created to mark the occasion, explores gender construction and reflects on the role the figure of the moura has played in the construction of femininity. Sound will be addressed as a material through which it’s possible to tell a story and, at the same time, demystify the figure of the moura, deconstructing it and highlighting its political significance.

MARÍA XEREZ. BLOB

Venue: Auditorium foyer
Timetable: 6.00 p.m.
Performer: María Jerez
Duration: 45 min

Blob is a solo performance that faces an enigma: the mystery of how the meeting of two (you and Blob) can create a third, a third thing, a third dimension, something that wasn't there before and wasn't even meant to be, something that emerges from the meeting itself. And while it arises, it transforms both (you and Blob), producing a change, a de-identification process, a collision with the undefined ...
Blob is an entity, a kind of mutant cell, something constantly changing. In this constant transformation, Blob proposes the inability to name what is seen. Blob has been created as part of the project What Is Third by María Jerez.
