WORKSHOP ON PROCESS AND CREATIVE RESOURCES WITH JAVIER VALLHONRAT. EXPLORING THE PROCESS.
My understanding is that every artistic project is like a complex space where many different plots and stories—conceptual, formal and vital—are activated and begin to interact.
These contents and stories need to be activated by exercising creativity, which can be defined as a compendium of capacities and processes that we deploy through exploration, experimentation and games.
Over the course of this workshop, in which we will work primarily in the photographic medium, we will be able to recognize, explore and implement our own resources and creative processes, and at the same time, discover new resources and processes.
By using these practices, I aim to achieve the following goals:
-To change the focus of the final result towards the discovery of our own individual keys.-To make us more aware of our own inner voices and movements.
-To make us more conscious of our creative resources.
-To increase the flexibility of our creative processes.
-To create an inner space where we can find meaning in what appears to be insignificant.
-To familiarise ourselves with a useful and functional work process model that will help us to generate our own projects
-To do this, we will work with our own images. Each participant should bring at least one picture and for the duration of the workshop my job will be to accompany him or her through a process of listening and dialogue exchange with plots and stories that, in our profession, are oftentimes neglected.
That’s why the most interesting thing is to choose an image that intrigues us—one that we want to learn from; one that encourages our interaction and makes us ask questions. We have no interest in working with perfect or expert images from a photographic standpoint.
The work may be in physical format (a paper copy) or digital format (using a tablet or laptop).

Javier Vallhonrat:
Over the course of nearly three decades, he has combined the development of his artistic work with teaching at both public and private institutions, schools and universities in many different countries.
For the last few years he has worked in high mountain areas subject to special conditions and geoclimatic processes, carrying out long-term, ongoing projects.
Sixteen monographic volumes of his work have been published, some of the most outstanding of which are Animal vegetal (Abril y Buades, Madrid, 1986), El espacio poseído (Gina Kehayoff, Munich, 1992), Autogramas (Gina Kehayoff, Munich, 1993), Cajas (Mestizo, Murcia, 1996), Trabajos fotográficos, 1991-1996 (Lunwerg, Madrid, 1997), ETH (Centro de Arte de Salamanca, Salamanca, 2003), Casa del humo (Fundación Telefónica, Madrid, 2004), Javier Vallhonrat. Sunday, 13 December, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Artists, curators, students and photographers interested in contemporary creation.
PLACES: minimum 7 / maximum 15

Applications should be accompanied by a letter explaining the candidate’s link to contemporary creation. Please include the following information: full name, education, area of work or interest, an e-mail address and contact telephone number.
The deadline for applications is 30 November.
On 3 December, the persons selected to participate in the workshop will be notified and given instructions on how to pay the registration fee.
REGISTRATION FEE: 20 €
The CGAC will issue a certificate of attendance and competency to the workshop participants.
