WORKSHOP WITHOUT LEAVING THE SOFA

The CGAC continues to develop the project Without Leaving the Sofa (from an original idea by Arquitectives), a series of workshops on architecture that aim to enlighten participants regarding different cities, with the aid of other colleagues from Spain who, like them, will be participating in the project.

Through a series of virtual visits, the architecture apprentices will acquire information on the history of cities, their structure, their growth models and their unique features to gain a global knowledge of their cities of residence.

By means of direct Internet connections, participants, who will be carrying out simultaneous workshops in different cities, will exchange information regarding the similarities and differences between their cities; their urban planning and lifestyles derived from their different geographical, climate and cultural situations.

The workshops include building large scale models of characteristic buildings in the cities studied so that their young inhabitants can try to identify them from the other side of the computer screen.

The building of the models will be carried out using the Lupo system (created by the architect Fermín Blanco): a series of modular pieces that permit multiple combinations, forms, proportions, balancing games and action strategies.

In this edition, the destination of our virtual journey will be to the Moon. Through Google Sky we will explore the mystifying satellite and establish a direct connection with the astronomer Pedro Pablo Campo, at the Astronomical Observatory of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Participants will be able to interview him to learn about the history of the Moon, its climate and orographic features, the expeditions that have been carried out, etc. We will then create special vehicles to travel there and will develop the satellite with fantastic buildings. We will build a lunar city.
