Crebas is a term specific to the lexicon of the Costa da Morte, referring to the objects deposited along the shore by the tides as a result of a shipwreck or other circumstances. Under this title, the publication presents a selection of works dated between 1976 and 2019 that synthesise the essence of Torres’s practice. It offers a renewed opportunity to revisit his work from different perspectives, tracing the connections between the various stages of his artistic trajectory, which explores historical, philosophical, political, and anthropological questions through a wide range of media, including installation, photography, drawing, and sculpture.
The volume includes a series of previously unseen works directly related to Galicia, which resonate with his early conceptual pieces from the 1970s and enter into dialogue with later works—particularly multimedia installations conceived as complex narrative devices, often the result of an exhaustive process of research.
