Drawing on a range of examples, the author, Laura Calvo Gens, reflects on the values and meanings associated with this chromatic spectrum, turning to diverse references that range from Yves Klein’s blue pigment to the political implications of an emblematic work such as Blue (1993) by Derek Jarman.
