Synopsis:

Hamish Fulton (London, United Kingdom, 1946) is an artist whose work emerges from the encounter between art and walking. Since 1969, he has undertaken walks across diverse landscapes around the world: he has crossed the Iberian Peninsula from coast to coast on several occasions, travelled through much of Europe, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Australia, and walked in the mountains of India and Nepal.

On the occasion of the exhibition Walking East, organised by the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea, he planned a route beginning in Fisterra and continuing towards Santiago de Compostela, Pamplona, and Roncesvalles, ending in Hendaye.

This publication presents a series of works resulting from this project, accompanied by a conversation in which the exhibition’s curator, Pep Benlloch, and the artist reflect on the experience of the Camino and on Hamish Fulton’s career as a walking artist.
