‘ADRIANA LECOUVREUR.’ Live Streaming of Francesco Cilea's Opera
CGAC auditorium
Original version in Italian with Spanish surtitles
Once again, the CGAC has been invited to take part in the Opera Week of the Teatro Real in Madrid. On this occasion, our auditorium will host the live streaming of Adriana Lecouvreur by Francesco Cilea (1866-1950), based on the play of the same name by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé.
The opera tells the story of Adriana Lecouvreur, the most prestigious of all actresses in 17th-century Paris—a true legend idolised by the audience, who died suddenly at the height of her youth after a fatal illness, or, according to some sources, was murdered.
A story of jealousy, intrigue and betrayal, that will be taken to the stage for the first time at the Teatro Real to be told in a captivating metatheatrical production with splendid period designs both in terms of sets and costumes. The production, designed by the stage director David McVicar, will feature some of today's greatest lyric voices under the musical direction of Nicola Luisotti.
This version of Adriana Lecouvreur is, furthermore, a tribute to Montserrat Caballé and José Carreras on the 50th anniversary of their legendary interpretation of this piece in the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
