Within the framework of the exhibition Nicasso and with the aim of gaining deeper insight into the work of Carlos Pazos, the CGAC is organising two commented film screenings, with the participation of the artist himself, featuring a selection of his most significant films.

The first session will focus on the screening of Art¡ss!mo (2015), a collage film that examines the figure of the artist within the imaginary of commercial cinema and its influence on the social perception of art and its makers. Structured according to the principles of a careful and acerbic cut-and-paste technique, this film precedes Nicasso, el film (Nicasso, the Film, 2019), which is presented in the artist’s solo exhibition at the CGAC. For this session, Carlos Pazos will be joined by curator and academic Pedro de Llano Neira.

The second session will present Mnemocine. Película recortable (Mnemocine: Cut-Out Film, 2006), produced for the exhibition No me digas nada, held at MACBA and MNCARS in 2007, and Yo inventé unos Llopis (I Invented Some Llopis, 2012), filmed in Cuba and also reflecting the artist’s passion for music. In this session, Carlos Pazos will be joined by Santiago Olmo, curator of the exhibition Nicasso and Director of the CGAC.

Cinema, music and popular culture revisited through memory and cinematic collage.
