CHRISTMAS WORKSHOPS 2023 - 2024
This Christmas, we propose two workshops for your little ones. Children between the ages of 4 and 9 will be able to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary art with artist Haya Blanco and educator Susana Varela.
Get ready to laugh, learn, get messy, move, dance, create and be surprised!
What’s in This Drawer?
27th, 28th and 29th December
Time: 11.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
Ages: 4 to 6
Led by: Haya Blanco
Some drawers in our house and, above all, in the houses we visit, such as those of our grandparents, aunts or friends, etc., become our favourite spaces. They often hide real unclassifiable treasures: a bead, a shiny object, a broken figurine, something written, a ribbon, a photo, a frame, a key that doesn’t open anything...
Our mission for this workshop is... to rescue those forgotten pieces! We’ll look for broken toys, used stories, lost balls, mismatched jewellery etc. – things that apparently have no relation to each other and to which we will give a new life by bringing them together to compose a three-dimensional work of art.
In addition, we will understand the workshop space as a huge drawer and experience what it means to be an object. How would you behave if you were a bouncing ball, a lame Superthing or a piece of mirror?
We’ll also make a large-format, multi-coloured work and let the rhythm of the music guide the movement of our bodies as we paint. We’ll work individually, also collectively and consecutively, like in a relay game. We’ll run to take over from our partners and continue to create where they left off.
We’ll try to go beyond the support by perforating it and introducing elements that go through it, that go out, that come in, that appear and disappear, and that provide volume and visual rhythm.
3rd, 4th and 5th January
Time: 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.
Ages: 7 to 9
Led by: Susana Varela
In this workshop, we’ll immerse ourselves in the magical world of photography, where we’ll be able to develop our creativity and discover the artistic potential of this medium.
We’ll create an artist's book. We’ll work with ideas and sources of inspiration, learn how to capture and edit images, and how to design and assemble our photobook.
Imagination and technique will work together to alter reality and create surprising and surreal images.
We’ll create kaleidoscopic images and use the effects of reflections and colours by manipulating prisms, glasses, filters and torches.
We’ll experiment with points of view, with focus, with light, with objects, with bodies... and, in doing so, we’ll bring our own visual stories to life.
