THE CONTEXT OF FASHION. Course on Contemporary Culture and Fashion
Fashion is an important economic sector with an ever increasing presence in daily life: it’s on the street and in the media and forms part of recreational and cultural activities. Fashion is so omnipresent that it awakens in many of us the curiosity to find answers to the novel relevance it has gained in the 21st century.
Throughout the course’s eight sessions, we’ll delve into the different faces of fashion. We’ll analyse how and where it’s produced, how it communicates and its relationship to other disciplines–such as literature, history, sociology, contemporary art, industry and science. We’ll also talk about fashion programming in museums and other venues where it’s exhibited.
