‘Even while we sleep, when we manage to sink into the state in which, as Bukowski said, the world “inhales and exhales through our body,” our bodily posture seems to express the fundamental shape of our relationship with the world. Adorno noted that “our connection with the wind during sleep reveals whether we are happy or not.” Our relationship with the world does not simply disappear when we sleep, but continues to operate in vegetative and subliminal realms.’
RÆM, notes from the creation dossier

Javier Martín, a choreographer from A Coruña, will undertake a research residency at the CGAC with the aim of assembling and putting into practice his latest creation, RÆM.

In September 2025, Martín dedicated several closed-door working sessions to developing a technological device for the composition and recording of dance via camera. By projecting the captured images simultaneously across three projectors, and with the aim of problematising movement and its images, he transformed a CGAC room into a visual resonance chamber.

His choreography will now be open to the public on 11 and 12 February with two long-duration performances. During these public sessions, the artist will be continuously present in the space, activating the device, dancing, and developing the work in real time, in direct relation with the audience, who will be able to enter, stay, and accompany the creative process for as long as they wish.

JAVIER MARTÍN (A Coruña, 1980) dances. He combines choreographic and performative creation with writing, lab practice, and lectures. From an epistemological and critical perspective, he investigates the arts of movement, activating a somatheque: the imagination and the bodily archive of diverse kinetic approaches.

He composes textures of movement, vibrant matter, as a dynamic to intervene and make conscious the processes of subjectivation, interested in distilling how inertia accumulates in our bodies.

He maintains that dance, as a technology of consciousness, is a way of elaborating the animal we are.

Since the beginning of his career, he has created and presented over thirty works, including Beltenebros (2025), El punto impropio A/S/V (2023), Figuras del umbral (2021), Teorema (2020), SOMA (2019), and Método negro (2018), performing in Spain, Morocco, France, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Uruguay, Guatemala, Colombia, and Thailand. His choreographies have been supported by various institutions and cultural centres, both public and private.
