MIES ES+ EXPERIMENTAL WORKSHOPS ON CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE 2025
The CGAC is presenting the tenth edition of this cycle of workshops on contemporary architecture for children, with a final session designed for families to learn and enjoy together.
The workshops, to be held on the last weekend of every month, will be run by architect Fermín Blanco with the support of the Lupo System teaching team. The goal is to provide the children with the tools and keys they need to interpret contemporary architecture through the theories, projects and works of the most important architects of recent times.
The Lupo System is founded on active, experimental teaching, a mixture of theory and practice, where the tools of construction-based team play are the focus of the study.
The practical side of the workshops is structured around a series of modular pieces that allow for multiple combination possibilities, shapes, proportions, balance games and action strategies. The dynamics proposed encourage reflection and individual creativity, as well as teamwork, through large-scale construction.
In this edition, we’ll address public space, its use and analysis through the eyes of one of the most observational urbanists—the New Yorker William Whyte, who reflected on the life of small open spaces in cities. Gae Aulenti, an architect with multiple facets in the fields of design and scenography, will raise the curtain to show us a range of creative possibilities, followed by the urban manifesto of Patrick Geddes and his cities in evolution. Along with the master Gunnar Asplund, we will embark on a journey to enjoy Sweden’s architecture and territory. To round off the course, as per usual, we’ll organise a five-star session which will serve as a review of everything experiences in this edition: a MIES es + family special.
