We are taking off once again on a journey around the world with this new edition of our family workshops! A programme in which children and adults alike will be able to experience contemporary art through the work of artists from geographical areas that rarely receive the attention they deserve.

This time, we land in a very special place: Palestine. A devastated territory with an uncertain future, yet one that holds a living culture, a rich history and traditions that are worth knowing, respecting and celebrating. Through the works of different artists, we will explore art as play, protest, expression and healing. We will experiment with abstraction and figuration; create miniature worlds; explore space and science fiction; engage in invented archaeology; work with movement and bodily interaction; and draw on family stories, culinary traditions and light.

SAMIA HALABY
Saturday, 24 January. Families with children aged 4 to 6
Sunday, 25 January. Families with children aged 7 to 9
Registration period: 15-22 January

Samia Halaby was one of the first Palestinian artists to explore the possibilities of abstract painting. In this workshop, we will draw inspiration from her vibrant works to create energetic and dynamic compositions, inventing new ways of painting using objects, fabrics and other materials.
We will help painting break free from its two-dimensional format and transform into something else: a sculpture, a floor-spreading installation, an artist’s book…
We will also experiment with layers of colour and discover how to move from figuration to abstraction—and back again!

MIRNA BAMIEH
Saturday, 21 February. Families with children aged 4 to 6
Sunday, 22 February. Families with children aged 7 to 9
Registration period: 10-19 February

For Mirna Bamieh, defending her land and her culture is essential. Through art, she questions, denounces and makes visible the situation in her country, helping to preserve its traditions. She uses food as a symbol of connection between people, recovering recipes that link generations and combining culinary arts with performance and oral storytelling.
Inspired by her work, we will explore how cooking can become a space for encounter and memory. We will celebrate our own family traditions by creating a large collective recipe book, play with flavours and textures to invent imaginary foods, and discover the pictorial and sensory possibilities of food.

DIMA SROUJI
Saturday, 7 March. Families with children aged 4 to 6
Sunday, 8 March. Families with children aged 7 to 9
Registration period: 25 February - 5 March

Architect and artist Dima Srouji investigates the memory of cities through objects and archaeological remains. Like a true detective, she examines buildings, maps and the features of the land in order to protect them from oblivion or to expose injustices.
Inspired by her practice, we will combine different materials to create our own treasures, build containers to protect them like precious relics and design spaces to safeguard them. We will also explore maps as playful landscapes, uncover the stories hidden in our streets, and create amulets using essences, flowers, seeds or leaves—turning family memories and natural elements into symbolic creations to carry with us.

MONA HATOUM
Saturday, 18 April. Families with children aged 4 to 6
Sunday, 19 April. Families with children aged 7 to 9
Registration period: 9-16 April

Mona Hatoum transforms the everyday into something unexpected by playing with scale, presence and absence, and the relationship between her works and the viewer. In her practice, domestic objects become worlds, shadows come to life, and the body acts as both instrument and message.

In this workshop, we will explore these shifts in scale by creating mini-worlds, invent artefacts that only function when two people collaborate, and play with movement and paired dynamics inspired by her videos. We will rediscover our bodies and leave traces behind, creating new spaces with light and silhouettes.

LARISSA SANSOUR
Saturday, 23 May. Families with children aged 4 to 6
Sunday, 24 May. Families with children aged 7 to 9
Registration period: 12-21 May

Larissa Sansour combines science fiction with comics, video and installation to imagine alternative futures and question how politics and the stories we tell are constructed. Her work takes us into outer space, the future or worlds inhabited by diverse beings, blending humour, dystopia and social critique.

Inspired by her work, we will create imaginary countries shaped like skyscrapers, invent characters and superpowers, explore undiscovered planets and build a large collective universe made of light, sound and surprising materials.
