ONLINE COURSE ART IN THE CLASSROOM. EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES ON CONTEMPORARY ART

02 March 2021 - 20 November 2021
from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
15
Coordination:
Virginia Villar
Directorate:
Gael Zamora Lacasta

Contemporary art has entered the classrooms as a mainstay of learning, but commonly it’s through the work of artists like Picasso, Miró, Van Gogh or Kandinsky. Figures that are important, without a doubt, but also far removed from our time, failing to address certain cross-cutting topics present in the field of education, such as a connection with everyday life, equality or sustainability.

Frequently in the classroom, work focused on a particular artist means getting to know the character and emulating their style of painting. This course is about going a step further and taking a look at the world of art (in the more diverse sense of the term) as a source of inspiration when creating rich and globalised educational experiences. Teachers can observe, reflect and experiment through art before bringing their initiatives into the classroom, living the experience and turning it into a starting point for building the programme.

Programme:

·    Contemporary art in the classroom: why and for what

·    Contemporary artists as a starting point to develop educational initiatives

·    Some approaches to selecting the artists

·    Educational resources for exploring creation
