OTHER TYPES OF MUSIC ARE POSSIBLE. Programme of Didactic Concerts
12:00 m. Second session
This programme, designed with primary school children in mind, aims to bring contemporary music to a children’s audience and arouse the curiosity of the next generations with regard to the art of our time.
Ensemble Liberdade draws on innovative techniques such as sound painting to compose musical material in real time; it uses a unique sign language to communicate and resorts to improvisation as a raw material in the search for new formulae for deconstructing the most common compositional uses.
During the sessions, the construction of different live musical pieces will be explored in an enjoyable, practical and participatory way. The audience will have the opportunity to experience the creation of a musical piece first-hand and immerse themselves fully in sound experimentation.
To take the best advantage of the face-to-face sessions, and with the help of a teaching back-up guide, the pupils will be able to reflect in advance and in the classroom on questions such as: What is and isn’t music? Why do we like some types of music and not others? Where and how can I find the music that I like? Can music be too complex or too simple? Is there such as thing as good and bad music?
