PUBLIC COLLECTIONS UNDER DEBATE: CGAC COLLECTION (II). Parallel Meetings at the CGAC and the Faculty of Philosophy of the USC
The raison d'être of a museum, long term, is its collection – without a collection, there is no museum. And a collection is, by definition, a collective, transgenerational and transversal project. It’s also a way of narrating the (recent) history of a cultural context – in this case, Galicia.
From this perspective, a museum collection should be understood as a meeting point between different and even antagonistic sensitivities. That’s why it needs to be supported, nurtured, imagined and projected.
These sessions, and those held in November 2023, aim to move forward in that direction by drawing from the contributions of some of the most active personalities in the fields of art, curating, management, research and criticism in the context of Galicia and beyond.
