BLEDA Y ROSA. A GEOGRAPHY OF TIME

19 October 2018 - 20 January 2019
Curator:
Nuria Enguita
Artists:
Bleda y Rosa

Bleda y Rosa. A Geography of Time is an exhibition of twenty-five years of photographic work by María Bleda (Castellón, 1969) and José María Rosa (Albacete, 1970) focusing on their series Campos de batalla (Battlefields). Started in 1994 and recently finished, their project is exhibited as a whole for the first time. The exhibition starts with Campos de fútbol (Football Pitches, 1992-1995), their first project to gain public recognition, which establishes a dialogue between space, time, and memory, and develops the conceptual framework of their future projects such as the series Origen (Origin, 2003-) and Prontuario. Notas en torno a la guerra y la revolución (Prontuarium, Notes on War and Revolution, 2011-), also included in the exhibition.

Bleda y Rosa, who were awarded with the National Photography Prize by The Ministry of Culture of Spain in 2008, are one of the most relevant contributors to Spanish contemporary photography. Their superbly crafted work critically examines images and history, the relationship between past and present, and the discourses and visions around that relationship.
