The following are the findings of a research on Galicia's landscape carried out during the year 2007 and part of 2008. The general title of the project in which this research takes place, The Rururban Plot, refers to the landscape reality which triggered this debate. This plot is the outcome of known factors: urban improvisation, the development of a tertiary sector economy, Galicia's historical marginalisation, the relation to inhabitants' mobility, migration/immigration within and outside our region.. However, the objective of this investigation was not to focus on these factors, upon which there is a certain degree of consen-sus, nor to put forward corrective measures. On the contrary, one of the starting points was the understanding that the two terms that define this reality, the rural and urban environments, do not coexist as opposites but rather as a complex and changing reality.
