Synopsis:

Waltercio Caldas. Máis lugares is the catalog of the exhibition of the same title held at the CGAC from September to December 2008.

During the nineteen-sixties, Carl Andre's concept sculpture-as-place seems to assemble a string of interests linking him to El Lissitzky's constructivist propositions. The underlying concept of space, making it revolutionary, is not facing fronting the spectator with an object but placing him/her within a physical and conceptual space. Along this line of artistic interests, plastic speculations and aesthetic discourse, Waltercio Caldas (Rio de Janeiro, 1946) works in the unclear and vast field of contemporary sculpture or, to be more precise, with the space. Not the object, or the object within special relations, but rather with space itself and all its potential when conforming its experience.
